Is it possible to get a power surge from a USB Media Player device?

….and blow your motherboard? We bought a USB Media Player device on ebay, loaded a couple movies, then, later, hooked it back to the power, then to the USB cord (that was already plugged into the back of the pc) to transfer more movies and music.. there was a “POP” noise, and now the PC will not boot up at all, the only thing it does is start the fans up. (it’s an MSI MEGA 865 Deluxe PC)

I was told by the seller of the media player that there is NO way the media center could have blown up the PC…

Now I wanna know everyone else’s opinion on this.. I still say, It did indeed blow up the motherboard… as the PC hadn’t even been in use for 2 months when this happened..
PC had only been on about 1 hour. so overheating isn’t the issue.. and there was a POP when i plugged the media center in
the media player is made by ‘zentium’
this is where i got it

Is there a way that I can view open windows on my home PC through another computer?

So I have to go to a class and I have a laptop and internet access at the class, and the problem is i will miss a good NFL game i really want to see. So my home PC has a TV tuner, and i am able to view the game on that PC with Windows Media Center. So i was wondering if there was a way i could remotely access my home pc from my laptop at school, and then watch the game that way.

I am indeed the owner of both PCs, it’s not like i’m trying to hack a friends pc or anything, but if I have to resort to methods that would generally be considered illegal to do to unwilling participants, I am willing.

So is there any way you can help me out?

Can you overclock an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ when your bios menu doesn’t have any settings like HTT or voltage?

Trevor asked:

I have a new HP Media Center PC (m7664x) with an Athlon 64 x2 4200+ dual-core processor, Asus A8M2N-LA motherboard, and 2048 MB PC4200 ddr2 ram. I really need to increase the voltage to the processor because using CPU-Z, I found the processor is only getting 1.1 v and I read online that the processor usually operates with 1.35 v. My old computer had a athlon xp processor and the bios let you tweak every setting imaginable to overclock it. I am really disappointed in this new computer that I can’t tweak it like I like. Please, if anyone knows how to do this, if it is possible, or knows where to find out, tell me. I’m sure a lot of people have had similar problems, and I will be so grateful for any good response!!

How Do I Switch Graphics Cards on my Windows XP Media Center Addition?

Thursday, April 10th, 2008
cjra2700 asked:

I am planning on buying a GeForce 8800 GTS (mostly after finding out the game Crysis lagged every second when I tried to play it with my GeFroce 6100) The one thing I dont get is how to actually switch the graphic cards. I noticed 2 slots that seem big enough for graphic cards to get into, they were called: “SD/MMC/SM/MS/MS-PRO/xD” and “CF\MICRODRIVE” but what I didnt get was the fact there was no button to press to pop the other graphic card out. (If either of thoes slots is where the graphic cards are supposed to go) I do know alot of my pc hardware but I never fiddled with graphic cards before. So if anyone knows how to do it, please do tell =), thanks!
