Unable to download Yahoo email attachments (from 1 pc only)?
Eric K asked:
Not related to attachments – no problem w/ the PC running win2k & IE6 w/Norton 6. However, the PC running XP media center, IE7, Norton 8 – has this issue: downloading email attachments never finishes (no error either). I suspect Norton or IE7, but my wife says it started before she installed IE7 & is the same using new yahoo & classic version. We have no viruses – they are not large files or weird file types – the download just never completes. I have no problem downloading the same attachments from the other PC’s. The current workaround is for her to email them to me & I download them from the other PC (without incident).
I solved this – Open IE7 and go to internet options – advanced – click on manage add-ons. One of the addons is causing this. When I disable all of them, it works. I need to go through them one by one to see which is the culprit – most likely one from symantec (Norton Internet Security v8)
Note – it’s tools -> internet options -> programs -> manage add-ons. I disabled all the symantec add-ons & it worked – then I began enableing them one by one & now they are all enabled & it still works. The only difference is that there is no entry under programs for the email. Maybe what I did was a round about way to eliminate the fact that somehow outlook express was selected as the email client. Anyway – I still like going with Firefox.
