How do I network my Windows XP Pro PC and my Windows Media Center PC?
poking00 asked:
I have them both in the same workgroup and can see the media center PC when I browse from the XP Pro PC but it says that I am not authorized to access the Media Center PC when I try to access it to map Drives. It is a wired network using a Linksys router. I can access other XP boxes from this xp box on the network fine.
I have folders shared on all machines

how do i connect to pc’s through a router?
Rock Lee asked:
ok. i want to connect 2 pc’s together. can i do that with a router. os’s are both windows xp media center. i want to connect the pc’s to share files through them.
”
You got it, the best way is through a router. Just make sure it’s a router with a built in ethernet switch (it should have around 5 network ports in the back). Because it has a built-in firewall, it will keep your network safe from outside attackers while still allowing you to share files!”

ok. how would i go about doing that?
both pc’s do have internet trought the router.
“well i would try going to THE START BUTTON for starters then going to the run button and type in this NSLOOKUP.EXE and then if that doesn’t give you enough info on your dns type in IPCONFIG.EXE.(please NOTE plug in your ethernet adapter thing before running any of this described above).ok so then after doing all that still go to the run button in your start button and type in TELNET.EXE.and type in the info you got from the stuff above described”
thanks but this did not help. i need something explained to me where a child could under stand what to do.
