I han a Gateway 831GM Media Center PC and I have 512mb’s of RAM and I want to upgrade to 2gb’s of RAM I have ddr dual channel memory. What kind of RAM is right for my computer and how much can it handle?
Kingston RAM seems to be your best bet. As for the amount of RAM, I wouldn’t try going over 1GB. If the computer is less than one year old then go ahead and go with 2GB but I would not recommend it.
Go there and click on scan my system. I will tell you all about it.
they got a memory advisor tool to help you find out what brand of ram you’ll need
then go on newegg to get it for cheap
That pc takes DDR400(pc3200) ram.
Max ram is 4 gig.
Hi
This link will tell you which RAM sticks to buy:
“Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.”
Therefore I would recommend buying 2x 1GB RAM modules from Crucial.
